In a Math and Science dominated world, the two subjects are taken very seriously in our society. In schools you are considered smart if you are good at these subjects. We are expected to learn and understand these two subjects and to remember what we have learned. While some people can and will keep up with and understand math and science, others cannot do the same.

Humans are all different. We think and act different, view the world differently than others, and understand things differently from each other. Some people are naturally able to understand math and science, they are able to keep up with the ever changing facts and equations. Their brains are wired for these subjects.

Meanwhile, there are people who struggle to keep up with math and science. They are able to learn the basics and what is important for everyday life but are unable to understand further. Instead they are able to understand and excel at the arts. They create and change things, they bring color and life into something that was or is considered–in the eyes of society–nothing. These incredible minds are wired for the arts.

Due to math and science being so important to our society, the arts are cast off to the side, treated sometimes as if it is nothing of importance. The arts is something that everybody can opt out of when they feel like they don't need it in their life. It is a subject where you learn little of the basics and then leave when found unnecessary.

       This needs to change!

Artist should be able to opt out of math and science after they have learned and have understood the necessary basics. They should be free to not continue the subjects when they hold no importance to them in their line of work or abilities, just like everyone else can for art.

Why should artist be able to opt out of deeper more complicated math and science?

The reason why they should be able to is because they'd end up failing. When someone isn't able to do the work and cannot keep up with it they tend to fall behind and get low marks. To continuously struggle brings loads of stress and no time or mental strength to practice any form of art.

       Why is art so important?

Art is important because it can change the world just like science and math can.

How can art change the world?

Given the time, the freedom, and the right tools, art can change everything. After the roaring 20’s passed by, The Great Depression rolled in like a gloomy cloud. It was a trying time for America and nothing seemed to be sparking hope into the people's hearts. The arts were able to help! America made the arts their fire, passion, and their hope. By using the arts to help America get through The Great Depression, people became inspired. They changed old art and made new art, they changed the world of entertainment forever.

Taking a look at modern artist you see people like Lin Manuel Miranda using arts to teach us about history. Not only did he bring us back to the past, he also changed the game of Broadway forever. He brought old history into the modern world using arts. He told a story and he changed a whole platform of art.

The greatest artists in the world changed how we view art. All the artists introduce a new form of art which was and still is used in the modern day. They shaped society into something new and show everyone that they can be great too, that art is just as important, just as great, as math and science.

While we do use math and science in art, we don't use the most complicated equations or facts. We use what we need if and when we need it.

Most artistic people's brains are not wired for complicated math and science, which can lead to us struggling, stressing, failing, and losing our inspiration.

So why do artist have to struggle through math and science, but people don't have to do the same for art? Why can't we learn the basics of art, math, and science then decide from there how much further we need to go in each subject?

Art is just as important as math and science. We as a society need to change how we view art and how we view learning these subjects. People should be able to choose how far they need to go in any of these subjects! Artist shouldn't be forced to struggle through something they don't need. We can learn the necessary basics and then decide whether we continue or not.
